2005 Nissan Rear Diff Problems

Hi Everyone, my 05 Nissan Titan crew cab 4x4 off road edition has a bad whine in the rear end. Nissan said the pinion bearings are going, and they do not have any sprecs on the rear end (i.e. preload, collapsable spacers etc.) What they did say is I need to buy the entire axle at 3800 canadian.

Does anyone know anything about this? please help
